Peeta
SCENT NOTES: fresh bread + aged bakery wood + sweet cream + toasted cardamom + praline pastries + autumn in District 12
—
Autumn wanes in District 12 and you sit cozily on a rough wooden porch, wrapped in a knit blanket to guard against the slight bite in the air. Mockingjays sing in the trees around you, which paint the landscape in greens, yellows, reds, and oranges, leaves murmuring as the breeze moves through them. The kaleidoscope of warmth is beginning to fade just slightly, signaling the first hints of winter as much as the cold does, but the nature that surrounds is no less breathtaking—so peaceful despite the history of this place. You sip from your earthenware mug, sweet cream filling even the tips of your toes with heat and bringing with it a joy that only comes from this beautiful transitional season. The smell of fresh baked bread wafts over you as Peeta comes to curl up beside you, having finished the day’s baking—a hobby now more than a necessary occupation. The beautiful aged wood smells of his kitchen combines with the delicious praline pastries he’d been working on and you can’t help but take a deep indulgent inhale of it. He turns to you with a sweet smile, knowing full well what you were up to, and the simple act warms you up more than any hot beverage could.
I was determined with “Peeta” to build something that was more than just a bread fragrance and I’d like to think that I succeeded there! This blend is incredibly cozy and while it does hit the gourmand fragrance category it’s very rustic too—something that would be a great fit for farmhouse style decor and amidst reclaimed wood. The bread element of the fragrance isn’t particularly yeast-y to my nose and thus isn’t 100% accurate to fresh bread, however, “fresh croissant” may be more accurate a take. (You’ll have to try it and tell me!) Sweet cream creates a very warm backdrop here but I feel that it mixes really beautifully with the woods and a slight nuttiness, so nothing here is overly sweet or vanilla-forward.

Hand poured with natural, vegan coconut soy wax and decorated with crushed dahlia petals, chrysanthemum petals, & crushed apricot leaves.
These 7oz candles are made in blush rose glass Antiquarian vessels.
