The Chateau is ancient and glorious and steeped in magic. Fairies skitter about, shimmering, in the light of the earliest hours of the morning. The skies are clear and the air is warm, but the distinct smells and feel of autumn enchant every corner of the grounds, seeping into moss-covered bespeckled grey flagstones and turning them cold. Distantly, elves work to bring in the harvest, filling the air with the earthy scents of the estate's many gardens: from vegetables, to orchards, to vinyards, to the many many plots of flowers, meticulously grown and kept. Fresh vegetables combine with the earthy smell of grain under the light dawn mist, which spreads, featherweight, over rolling green hillsides and fields of pure gold, bathing in the pale light of the new day. If there is a kind of romantic renaissance paradise, this may well be it.

I keep wanting to add more to this description, but the reality is that it's the fragrance that is the true storyteller and it has to be smelled to be fully understood and experienced. This is my favorite scent in the entire collection, which is quite hard to say. I love them all, but I have a bias for atmospheric scents and this is quite possibly the quintessential one. "Chateau" is an autumn dream made real. Green and elegant, but also perfectly pumpkin. It's so elevated in my opinion it turns my room into some kind of space from restoration hardware in my mind, as funny as that might be. I wanted to transport you to the Chateau and capture its magic. This, the most complex formula I've ever designed, is truly that.

He wakes in a bit of a haze, gasping, the remains of the dream he was having lingering blearily on the edges of his consciousness. Darkness wends its way around his heart, twisting his chest with a familiar tension, even as his brain knows full well none of it had been real...not anymore, at least. And then, from just outside himself: a whisper, little more than a hum. "Come back to me..." Fingers thread gently through his hair; a leg twines its way through his own. Curtains in the distance sway slightly in the warm autumn breeze, silken fabric so gossamer they were ghostly, carrying in the smells of the ground's enchanted orchards to twist around the antique furniture and combine in symphony with the leafy flora that climbs the walls of the room. The first filaments of golden sunlight, threading through the blue of the first hours of the day, alit upon the skin of his companion, turning her golden--though to him she always was. Beneath his hands soft skin flexes and shifts against him; she having awoken at the same time that he did, shifting the white petals that cover them both, fallen last night from the enchanted floral canopy above the bed. Her voice is a soft susseration against his ear; her lips ghost over his mouth, over his cheeks, as she whispers, "I'm here." Wrapping his arms around her he pulls her closer, finally closing his eyes again as he leans his forehead against hers. She's here. They're safe. He's home and his home is her.

"Entangled" is soft and mysterious to the point that it's almost a little difficult to describe to people. I was seeking to capture the beauty of morning light and the tangle of soft linens and I think that's exactly the energy the scent captures; the ethereality of light dancing off of dust motes and the sweet birdsong of the earliest, hazy hours of the day. It is no surprise that rare orris, a prized ingredient in perfumery, takes center stage, a floral quality that blends seamlessly into a soft creamy woodsiness, with the slight citrus and ripe fruitness of the raspberry serving to balance all of the softness with a light pop of color. Even though the "fallen petals & spells" note is quite whimsical, it's also very true in my mind and frankly the spirit of this scent. "Entangled" is simply enchanting.

The world is dipped in beauty, drenched in sunlight and he's not entirely sure if any of it is real. Perhaps this is his life, but he'd never dared hope for anything so perfect, never imagined that this joy could be his. She walks just ahead of him, picking her long lace gown up to tread barefoot through the long grass, her head tipped back to feel the sun on her face, long curls tumbling down her back. She's a woman out of a painting, he thinks, a goddess or a fae queen, alglow amidst the deep greens as she walks her woodland kingdom. Small wildflowers and gooseberry plants brush against the bare skin of her legs; the light frames her, crowns her, turns her angelic in her white dress. Unable to stop himself he darts forward and sweeps her up into his arms easily as she laughs in surprise, carrying her the rest of the way. Later, he twirls those same curls around his fingers as she sleeps beside him atop their picnic blanket, lunch long finished and forgotten as they became lost in each other. The forest glade surrounds them like something out of a fairytale; a wonderland found and all their own. He was bewitched by her, down to his very soul and he had long since surrendered to the magic. If she was a goddess he would gladly worship. If she was a fairy queen he would never wish to escape her enchantment; he would let time and reality slip away around them until they were the only two people left in the world. For him there was no universe beyond, for his universe was she, lying before him. Perhaps this was real. Perhaps it wasn't. But if is a dream he never wants to wake.

This blend is a bright fruity floral with just the right amount of woodsiness and it smells like a daydream. There's a joy to this scent, brought by the slightly bracing yuzu, that's balanced by the cloudlike pear-white tea. There's truly no better way to describe this one than as an attempt to capture bliss. The floral element here is balanced, but slightly more prominent than in a few other scents in this collection, which I think only serves to deepen the magic of it, as its balanced perfectly with the rich smells of the woodland. This fragrance is something golden; it's soaked in sunlight and trailing wisps of cloud; the fairytale enchantment of real love and the bliss of dizzy dreams of a life with that person. Love surrounds you and envelops you and embraces you, as if the other person is your whole world, even though you know its all a kind of euphoria--and that is what I hope I've captured here. This is a perfect choice for someone looking for a slightly unconventional fall fragrance and to bring a bit of the last dregs of summer to their home.

She is his mirror and every day spent with her it becomes more and more clear. They'd fight fiercely, a lion and a viper, matching one another verbal blow for verbal blow, tempers running hot, only to kiss and touch even more fiercely between the sheets later that same night, all the windows and doors flung open to let the air in, heedless of anyone else able to hear. Opposite and the same; every debate, every conversation, every mundane moment between them felt like a dance, one that he'd never get tired of performing with her. There were times he'd look up at her and find her already staring; times when he'd let himself surrender, lost in the deep brown of her eyes; and times when he'd thread his hands into her hair and make her surrender to him. They raided the Chateau libraries then kissed atop the pages and he wondered if she realized how much he needed her. They walked the grounds and he tentatively reached for her hand--the way he always and forever wanted to. And he found she reached back. And not for the first time he wondered if this could be fate.

So! I know this has a vanilla note, but even if you aren't typically a vanilla lover I beg you to give this one a chance! She is beautiful and this is not at all your bakery vanilla. This is sheer vanilla that dances through this scent creating its spine and is complimented by a bouquet of elegant, moody florals. Overall I'd say "Fated" is in general one of the moodier options of this collection and quite sultry as you let it sink in. This is another one that I'd highly recommend for lovers of last year's "Good Girl," because I think it carries that same level of complexity and feel but is jasmine/neroli rather than rose.

It might be considered an improper thought—it certainly would be considered as much by any measure of his upbringing—but for him, when it came to her, nothing so mundane as propriety would or could ever matter.
She smiled back at him, knowing he was watching her, as she sipped her coffee from a tray the elves brought each day, prepared especially for her from the first day he'd brought her here.
She might be across the room, but his whole world still smelled like her and there was no way he'd rather have it. From the sheets to the air in the room, the scent of her mixed with the beautiful antiquity of this place; something bright and new blending into the old. He could always pick it out: peony and roses, and some kind of fierce, electric magic that was her aura. A subtle yet indelible, tangible mark that was quintessentially "her;" not a fantasy, but the real woman, here in all her glory; that this place was hers; that this man was hers.
And in turn, she was his.
He'd spent so long denying it, but now that he looked back it seemed like a kind of madness that he had so long deprived himself of the image he now beheld.
She was making her way back to him now, still smiling, hips swaying gently as she walked, caressed and made light by the dawn, every movement a wonder to him. Something about the tilt of her mouth was knowing—as if she predicted everything that was running through his mind as he stared.
She probably thought it was rather more salacious than it was, though, of course, there was a bit of that too. But chiefly and most importantly it was occurring to him more and more irrevocably that he may be entirely in love with her, down to the depths of his soul. And this was quite easily one of the ways he loved her the best, with the only things clinging to her being the remnants of her perfume and the memories of where his hands hand been.

This candle, frankly, smells more like a perfume than it does a candle in my estimation! I mean--it makes sense right? Ha! I really sought to capture Hermione here--a fierce heroine that would wear something that is as feminine as it is confident. It's quite complex but does present as the most outright floral of the collection. If you love peony and rose you will absolutely enjoy this. The lychee note here I think blends and bolsters the florals to add a slight kick, rather than necessarily standing alone. I do think, though, that it's balanced perfectly by its base of antique, warm woods and musk, giving the whole thing this ultra-elegant, high end kind of feel. Could be a lovely choice for people who loved "Good Girl" last year. (Though really that scent inspired nearly this whole collection so you really can't go wrong.)

He thinks about doing it that very morning, as he presses his nose into her hair in bed and his mind drifts to the ring hidden in his luggage. He might wake up like this every day for the rest of his life, he thinks. He may never be alone again.
For a long time he'd stopped imagining what his future could be. One never realises what it's like to surrender, what it's like to lose the ability to see a path ahead, until it was gone. But she'd walked into his life and returned to him the gift of dreaming and now he couldn't stop doing it...and every future he conceived included her.
Every time he passed the ballroom he imagined dancing there at their own wedding reception. Every time he walked with her into the gardens he imagined her tending the plants with their children. All of it was beautiful and fragile, like he was holding the possibilities in his hands as well as his mind and it was all crystalline glass. But the fear of breaking was overwhelmed by want and reckless hope; it was time to bring those dreams into the world.
The elves bring champagne for them both and an elaborate fruit spread for their breakfast, but she doesn't pay it any heed, assuming they're simply celebrating their anniversary. What does surprise her though is that as soon as she's dressed he leads her out of the doors and out to the vinyards; letting him pull her into a run barefooted through the flowers and then into a dance. He draws her through the vines, ripe grapes turning the air fragrant, and down to the old oak that sits at the center of the rolling green hills, where the gold-streaked sky felt as though it met the earth.
The first time he'd asked her to stay—or begged, perhaps—had been in the morning long ago. The second time had been had been in a different context: asking if perhaps she'd come away with him on a vacation to France. The third time had been here at the Chateau, curled together in their bedroom, and though it was nerve-wracking it was nothing like it was now, asking her to make their relationship—that had at one time seemed impossible—into something real. He had pleaded with her to stay and to be his and by some magic she'd said yes, just as she had every time before.
And now, as he got down on one knee and held out the antique ring he'd picked from the vaults weeks ago, he asked one last time, this time feeling like infinity in a moment because this time was forever: "Stay with me?"

(I'm sorry this one ended up so long! hahah I hope you loved it though) I wanted to capture a certain vulnerability and sweetness and I think this scent really delivers on that. (I also think of this one a bit like an apology for not actually making a summer collection.) More fruity than floral I think the best way I can describe it is "lovely." A great choice for people looking to add a little brightness to their space no matter the season.

She's twisted up around him in the shadows of the Chateau library and he relishes every moment of it. He'd never imagined she could mean this much to him, but somewhere along the way she'd become intrinsic. She was undeniable. She was inevitable. He'd fought against it at first, of course, this dependancy. He was a man who needed no one. But every time his hands trace over her skin she becomes etched further into the fabric of his life, every time he smells his own cologne on her skin, he claims her more and more. The man who never thought he could have her, let alone deserves her, knows he would now live for her, die for her, or kill for her if she asked him to. The latter he would do if anyone else dared to dream they'd ever touch her after him. There would be no "after." She was his. He was hers. And this was eternal. He loves her, he knows it, in that beautiful way everyone talks about, and every day he feels her drawing him more and more towards the light. But right now what he's doing belongs in the shadows and he's happy to have pulled her down into them. He grips her harder, possessive, and growls as she gasps, "You're mine. Say it." "I'm yours," she replies, breathless and wild.

This one's the really sultry one of the collection, because I could not help myself but throw one in! This scent is really designed for the smoky, dark leather fragrance lovers who loved "After Dark." It feels to me a lot like the lovechild of "Serpents & Sinners" from that collection, but dialed back on the smoke a bit and with more of a berry floral note than the pomegranate. It does have lavender in it but I would not say that it in any way dominates the fragrance. You may not even realize it's there!
